GONE TO PRINT!

First donation made!

Hello friends! A happy day! Samidoon: Comics for a Free Palestine has officially gone to print! Woo-hoo!

Thanks to your help, we’ve made our first print run 250 copies! At this point, about half of those are spoken for. I’ll have a final number of additional print copies available to share soon and reopen the print copy options when it’s known. The reason I can’t just say how many it is right now is we want to make sure that we have replacements in case there are any copies damaged in shipping at all and the creators are going to have first dibs on getting multiple copies—either to share or to have handy for conventions and the like.

Additionally, the first donation has been sent to the Palestine Red Crescent Society! It’s for $999.00 because that’s the maximum amount they’ll allow as a donation at one time. It’s kinda cool that we were able to hit the max!

Now, part of this campaign has always been about transparency, so let’s talk through these numbers a little bit more.

From this website, the project raise $2380.00. There was one person who had some difficulties with their payment on the site for whatever reason, and they donated to the PRCS directly for an additional $30 that we counted toward the campaign. So, all told, we raised $2410.00 in the initial push. The amount that came to my account from Squarespace was $2830.66, after all processing fees. I put a little bit of my own money into the pot too, rounding things out to $3000.

Here’s what the breakdown looks like now:
$3000 - Total.

- $1274.15 - Printing cost.

- $568.05 - Estimated shipping costs.

- $999.00 - Initial PRCS donation.

= $158.80 - Remainder (likely second donation).

Now, I haven’t sent this secondary donation in just yet. As you’ll note, it’s actually within that rounding up I did to $3000. Basically, this is money that I’m holding onto just for right now to account for any unexpected costs from this point forward—primarily just in case there’re any differences in planned vs. final shipping costs. Again, hopefully, that won’t be the case! Also, hopefully, by the time the next donation’s supposed to go through, it’ll actually be a higher number from additional sales! Everything earned from this point forward is going directly to the PRCS!

What else is there to say…

Digital editions will be going out after the books come in (but before most of the books reach their shipping destinations, probably), so be on the lookout for those in the next couple of weeks! And orders are still open for those right now! Tell your friends!

Speaking of, the estimate is that the books will arrive in a couple of weeks, so expecting shipping to begin mid-to-late August!

Bookmarks and stickers will be ordered soon—those were going to be produced from my high quality home printer, but said high quality printer broke, so figuring that out. But they were promised, they’re designed, just have to get them printed!
